In the short story “Hills Like White Elephants,” by Earnest Hemingway there is an American man and a young woman at a train station, on a hot day, somewhere in Spain. Most of the story is dialog between the man and the woman. They talk about a certain operation that is never told directly to the reader. We believe this operation to have something to do with drug rehab as they seem to be drinking a lot of alcohol while they wait for the train. Drugs might be the reason for the unhappiness in their life and rehab will makes things better.

Hills Like White Elephants by Ernest Hemingway

In this short story, in which dialogue is thoroughly used, a man and a woman are talking
on whether the lady should have an operation or not. We really do not know what the
operation is, but it seems that the girl cannot drink beer because of what she is
suffering. Throughout the whole story they just talk of how they are deciding of how they should
manage the operation and if the girl is going to feel fine after she has it. Again, we do
not know exactly what she has

Ernest Hemingway inserts many symbols in Hills Like White Elephants. For example, the title itself represents Jig’s growing womb. In this short story, in which dialogue is thoroughly used, a man and a woman are talking on whether the lady should have an operation or not. They discuss about the concerns of having an abortion and how they are not ready to have a child. Throughout the whole story they just talk of how they are deciding of how they should manage the operation and that the girl is going to feel fine after she has it. In conclusive, the boyfriend manages to convince Jig that they should have an abortion.

In the short story "Hills like White Elephants" by Ernest Hemingway, there is a dialog taking place between a women and man. They appear to be waiting for a train and conversing about a choice the women should take or not. The women was asked to perform some act by the man
and although she did not want to do it at the beginning, she conformed

at the end. It seems as if they were speaking of some kinda drug, but they are not specific in any way. So we really don't know. The man ended up trying to convince not to do it and
they simply left it at that. We were somewhat confused as to what they
were referring to and what the author meant to convey.

This story is about a young couple who are talking about abortion. In
the story, they find themselves arguing, talking, and debating about whether or not they should go on with the process of abortion.
